LaviX Privacy Policy
Safe Browsing & Accountability
Last updated: August 31, 2026
1. Introduction
LaviX ("LaviX", "we", "our", or "us") provides safe-browsing, content-blocking, and accountability features through applications and services including the LaviX Chrome Extension and the LaviX Android application.
This Privacy Policy applies to LaviX across all supported platforms. Because different platforms provide different technical capabilities, some data processing may differ depending on the device, operating system, permissions granted, and features being used.
We aim to collect only the information necessary to provide the features of LaviX.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on the platform and features you use, LaviX may process the following information:
Account Information
- Email address: Used to identify your LaviX account after Google sign-in.
- Display name: The name you choose when setting up your LaviX account.
Pairing Information
- Pairing code: A temporary code used to connect a LaviX device with an accountability relationship.
- Pairing expiration information: Used to determine whether a temporary pairing code remains valid.
Blocked-Activity Information
When LaviX blocks or restricts access to content, the application may record an event containing:
- The domain or activity type associated with the blocked event.
- The time at which the blocked event occurred.
3. Platform-Specific Data Processing
Although the Chrome Extension and Android App are designed to provide similar safe-browsing and accountability functionality, the technical implementation differs by platform. The table below describes what each platform processes:
| Function | Chrome Extension | Android App |
|---|---|---|
| Google authentication | Yes | Yes |
| Account email / display name | Yes | Yes |
| Device pairing | Yes | Yes |
| Blocked activity logging | Blocked domain + timestamp | Blocked activity detected by Android implementation |
| Local storage | Chrome / browser storage | Android local / app storage |
| Cloud synchronization | Firebase / Firestore | Firebase / Firestore |
| Notifications | Chrome notifications | Android notifications |
| Incognito protection | Chrome-specific | Not applicable |
Depending on the platform and features enabled, LaviX may process information about blocked or restricted activity, including domain information and the time an event occurred.
4. Information Stored Locally
Some LaviX functionality operates locally within the browser or device. Information used by the intervention system may be stored in local storage rather than being transmitted to our servers.
This may include:
- Local intervention trigger timestamps.
- Information indicating a recent bypass event.
- Optional thoughts or reflections entered into the intervention interface.
These local records are used to provide the intervention and accountability experience within the application.
5. How We Use Information
Information processed by LaviX is used for purposes such as:
- Providing safe-browsing and blocking functionality.
- Recording blocked-activity events for accountability features.
- Connecting devices through the pairing system.
- Displaying account and pairing status.
- Providing notifications and accountability-related features.
- Maintaining and improving the reliability and security of the service.
We do not use collected information to build advertising profiles or to sell personal information to advertisers.
6. Google Sign-In
LaviX uses Google authentication to allow users to sign in. When you choose to sign in with Google, Google may provide information associated with your Google account, such as your email address and profile information permitted by the authentication process.
LaviX uses this information to authenticate your account and associate your LaviX data with that account.
LaviX does not request access to your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, photos, or other unrelated Google services.
7. Data Storage and Third-Party Services
LaviX uses Firebase services to support authentication and cloud-based application functionality.
Information that is synchronized with the LaviX service may therefore be processed and stored using infrastructure provided by Firebase.
We use these services to provide the functionality of LaviX, including authentication and accountability-related data synchronization.
8. Browsing and Activity Monitoring
LaviX is a safe-browsing protection tool and therefore needs to interact with browser requests or device activity in order to determine whether access to a domain or application should be blocked.
LaviX may record the domain and timestamp of a blocked visit or restricted activity when the blocking intervention is displayed.
LaviX does not intentionally collect the content of pages, search queries, passwords, payment information, or communications entered into unrelated websites or applications.
9. Incognito Mode (Chrome Extension)
The LaviX Chrome Extension can operate with Chrome's Incognito mode when the user explicitly allows the extension to run in Incognito windows.
The extension displays the current Incognito permission status so that users can determine whether protection is enabled.
LaviX does not enable Incognito access automatically without Chrome's permission system.
10. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade user personal information.
Information may be processed by service providers that are necessary to operate LaviX, such as authentication and cloud infrastructure providers.
We may also disclose information when required to do so by applicable law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
11. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed by LaviX from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Humanity invented the internet and then immediately discovered that security is apparently an ongoing group project.
12. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the relevant LaviX functionality, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
Local information stored by the application remains under the device's local storage mechanisms and may be removed when the relevant storage is cleared or the application is removed.
13. Account and Data Deletion
Users may sign out of LaviX through the application.
Where account deletion functionality is provided by the LaviX service, users may request deletion of their account and associated cloud-stored information. To request manual account deletion, please email your request to support@purpose-partner.org with the subject line "LaviX Account Deletion".
Some information may need to be retained where required by law or where necessary for legitimate security purposes.
14. Children's Privacy
LaviX is intended to provide safe-browsing and accountability functionality. We do not knowingly use LaviX to collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling purposes.
If you believe information has been collected in violation of applicable privacy laws, please contact us using the contact information provided below.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when LaviX's functionality, data practices, or applicable legal requirements change.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
16. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or LaviX's handling of information, please contact us through support@purpose-partner.org the official LaviX / Purpose Partner support channel associated with the service.
